Wisconsin farms switch to updated technology

LOYAL, Wis. (WAOW) - With hot temperatures, and advances in technology, farmers in the Badger State are looking at ways to be more efficient.

It's a part of the Focus on Energy Program to boost energy efficiency.

For farmers such as Dennis Roehl, he's been able to switch to modern technology. Not only to boost milk production, but also make it easier on his cattle.

"We don't have a milking time anymore. With robots, you milk 24 hours per day and the cow sets their own time," said Roehl, Owner of Roehl Acres in Loyal.

Roehl Acres estimates they'll save over $50,000 annually in energy savings, and cut down on manual labor.

Roehl Acres is also hosting this years Wisconsin Farm Technology Days July 12-14 with plenty of events being hosted such as demos of the technology, tours and much more.

You can find more information on the event at wifarmtechdays.org.
