GREEN BAY, Wis. (WAOW)-- The Packers have signed former Texans' linebacker Whitney Mercilus.
Green Bay announced the signing on Thursday.
Mercilus practiced with the team on Thursday as well.
He was drafted by Houston in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of the University of Illinois.
In his 9 full NFL seasons and part of the current season, Mercilus has started 102 of a possible 134 games. He has 57 career sacks with a career-high coming in 2015 when he recorded 12.
He has 357 combined career tackles and two interceptions.
He could see his first action as a member of the Packers on Sunday when they face the Washington Football Team at Lambeau Field. Kickoff is set for Noon.
